The birth of digital rebellion
What started as a classic internet joke has officially exploded into a full-scale satirical political saga. In an incredibly bizarre and funny twist on online satire, the Oji Janata Party (OJP) has emerged as a direct rival to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), sparking a humorous political showdown inspired by the classic cartoon series Oggy and the Cockroaches. This parody clash quickly gained traction online, attracting strong reactions and endless formats across Instagram and X, proving that Generation Z takes political disillusionment with pure sarcasm.

Restore the name “cockroach”.
To understand the rivalry, you have to look at how it started. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) was founded by Abhijit Debke, a 30-year-old political communications strategist, on May 16 and has spread rapidly across digital spaces. The satirical move turned a controversial courtroom remark — where a comment about people entering a profession with fake degrees online was interpreted as describing young people as “cockroaches” — into a badge of honour. The party achieved thousands of followers on social media within days, turning the digital coping mechanism into a massive viral movement.

The definitive statement of the internet chronically
In just two days, the CJP has become Gen-Z’s favorite internet obsession. Across Instagram Reels, Eligibility criteria for membership include being “unemployed, lazy, and chronically online” and having “the ability to scream professionally.”

Real politics wrapped in satire
Despite its utterly ridiculous framing, the CJP manifesto – which the party describes as “secular, socialist, democratic and lazy” – clearly articulates structural reforms. This includes hotly debated demands such as a ban on post-retirement Rajya Sabha seats for senior judges, 50 per cent reservation for women in Parliament without increasing the overall strength of the House, and a strict 20-year electoral ban on dissident MLAs and MLAs. The rise of the “cynical opposition”
Enter resistance. The newly formed OJP has risen to challenge the rapid rise of the CJP. Using its cat mascot Oggy as their leader, the newly launched OJP positions itself as a “parody opposition” to validate the CJP’s narrative. Despite being quite new to the digital scene, OJP has already amassed nearly 16k followers on Instagram, proving that netizens are fully invested in watching this fictional two-party system trade blows online.

The OJP recently questioned CJP founder Abhijit Debaki’s former association with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), pointing to Debaki’s past real-world role in the party’s social media and election campaign activities. The group highlighted a 2024 post where Debki thanked former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia before leaving for Boston, tweeting: “I am truly grateful for all the opportunities you have given me while working with you. I am leaving for Boston with your guidance as my compass. No distance will dilute my commitment to AAP.”

Slogan of absolute justice
According to its official website, the mission statement of the Office of Open Justice is aggressive, simple, and beautifully absurd: “Kill all cockroaches.” The party’s portal leaves no room for diplomacy, as it says: “Any cockroach. Any size. Any type. Dead.” In a separate Instagram post, the OJP openly mocked the CJP’s identity politics by sharing photos of historic Indian freedom fighters along with a scathing caption: “The land shaped by the sharpness of swords is witnessing its youth proudly calling themselves ‘cockroaches’. It is truly a symptom of ‘peak unemployment’!” (Credit: Instagram/Oggy.Janata.Party)

Data, prevailing crises and the unknown future
Moving beyond mere criticism, the OJP issued a serious animal rights manifesto promising free health care for stray animals, stronger anti-cruelty laws, more shelters, feeding drives, and adoption awareness campaigns. Additionally, to show solidarity with the student communities, the group expressed support for aspirants affected by the NEET papers leak controversy, and demanded speedy justice.
